It's a small harvest, but the level of excitement it produced in our house showed how much we've waited for this moment. The large tomato is an Early Girl, along with Sweet 100 and Sungold cherry tomatoes. I have three other Early Girls and a Czech tomato called Stupice that will be ready to harvest later this week. Anyone else growing tomatoes out there? Hope you get your harvest soon!
Okay, now I'm so very jealous I can hardly stand it! :)) But then I look at your weather pixie and see that it's 88 degrees and it all comes back to me...
I don't live there anymore and it's only 63 degrees here. So no wonder I don't have tomatoes. I am trying to grow a Stupice and a Sweet 100, but they are both still in the flowering stage. I'm jealous but very happy for you!
Did you get my email?

Oh, these tomatoes are glorious! Unfortunately, I don't have any space for a garden. But, I'm great with directions. So, how do I get to your place? ;)

Wow, oh Wow, Sher. Beautiful tomatoes! I don't know what my tomatoes are doing back home. Hope I have some when I get home next week.

Sher, I can't express my jealousy! OMG, I love your tomatoes so much. These would be perfect for anything! But will be excellent for a tomato salad that I am deeply craving for!

Consider me jealous... I've been dreaming "sweet 100" dreams since mid April. Another month or two in my part of the world...

Nice tomatoes! So pretty and varried!

Ohhh... beautiful. Here in the NE, we won't see our harvest (my husband always plants a small garden each year) until mid-end July at the earliest.

Just beautiful! But since your maters are ahead of my coast's schedule I can get some good recipe ideas and be ready by the time they're here.

They're wonderful, Sher!

Wow, great! You are very lucky to have a garden! I only grow mint, basil, thyme and lavender..

Do you realize how lucky you are to live in a climate where you can start harvesting tomatoes in mid-June?! Here in Seattle, the tomato plants are just starts and the nights are still in the 40s. No red tomatoes until August! Enjoy a nice red tomato with mozzarella and basil for me!

I'm with Shannon - tomatoes this early are a blessing! And I second her idea of mozz and basil with some tomato slices - and a touch of olive oil, salt, and pepper too. Mmmm.
I have 7 tomato plants going (4 plum, 4 beefsteak, 1 cherry - can't remember the varieties), and they're all in flower, which is lovely. I also have 8 cukes, 4 eggplants, 4 peppers, chives, basil, oregano, chamomile, and thyme. It's a pretty small garden, but everyone looks happy and is in flower! I love gardening.
Your photos are lovely, and they make me a tad jealous!

how funny... I just harvested my first Early Girls this weekend... and they were so good with fresh ground pepper and salt. Can't wait to make my favorite sandwich -- just tomato, cheddar and mayo!

I am completely OVERCOME with jealousy. I have some tomatoes on a few of my plants, but the biggest one is about as big as a small cherry. I hope you savor them completely.

Yeah, my tomatoes are not even close!! I did have a green pepper growing, but my dog ate it. We have since put up a fence around the garden!!! I can't wait for fresh garden tomatoes. There is nothing like it!

My brother's in-laws grow their own tomatoes, black berries, peaches, etc. Every time I go visit my brother, I get to eat all the stuff the in-laws bring.
I don't grow tomatoes but I have a few dust bunnies growing under the bed. They will be ripe for picking in a couple of weeks.

I'm so bummed! I had lots of tomatoes just about ready and I was so proud of myself for getting them planted early...
They all get sick and died...all 22 plants cocked their respective toes up and kicked.
Some fungus combined with the cool, cloudy weather. And I can't replant in the same place. Mon mari is out digging holes in the lawn as we speak...after 3 nurseries I scrounged up some pathetic, old plants...We'll see. What's that old saw about pride going before a fall!

Wahoo! Your first tomato harvest of the season! I am incredibly jealous.....
Posted by: Lydia | June 13, 2007 at 04:48 AM
She's Early, alright! I think I'll see if anything's in at the Wednesday market today ... not likely but we live in hope!

Oh Sher, my mouth is watering. There is nothing quite so breathtaking as the first bite of a just-picked tomato (sprinkled with a little sea salt, of course). I can't wait for my harvest (which is still weeks away).
Posted by: Sarah | June 13, 2007 at 08:16 AM
So cute! I never got around to planting mine this year, so I'm relying on the farmers markets around town.

perfect for a nice salad! I'm jealous!

We, obviously, haven't got our tomatoes yet. We're still in the flowering stage. *sigh*
