Here's the good news, Upsie and I are hosting this week's Weekend Cat Blogging. If you want to take part, Upsie says for you to send us the link (whatever that is) to your blog at Rdfern(AT)sbcglobal(DOT)net. Or you can just leave the link in the comments here. Oh, and mention our blog and WCB in your post, cause it makes us feel important. Mom will have the Roundup posted on Sunday. OK, now the obvious bad news--mom bought me a harness, which looks like some of the instruments of torture that I saw on a History Channel show. Then she took me outside, which was awful!
I was very scared of the green stuff on the ground. I was so upset, Upsie licked the top of my head to calm me down. Anyway, I can't see the purpose of a harness.
Upsie never wears a harness, which is pretty unfair, if you ask me.
Oh, here's a funny thing. Mom weighs the squirrels every day. At first I thought she was going to cook them or something. But, she weighs them and tells them they are getting so big. They look pretty small to me.
Now, Upsie and I were tagged to do something called a meme by Kate at A Byootaful Life. I don't understand any of this, but here goes.
5 Reasons Why We Blog
Upsie's reasons.
1. To paraphrase Camryn Manheim when she won an Emmy, this is for all the fat cats. We don't get the attention that the slim, svelte cats do. Plus-size cats are beautiful too! That's my mission, to make the world see that big is beautiful in the feline world.
2. OK, I admit it. I love the attention.
3. Eventually, I hope to spin this off into a television reality show. It will be called Upsie's world, and get higher ratings than American Idol.
4. I would also like it if I was asked to do product testing, such as tuna, salmon, and chicken tenders.
5. But, the real reason I blog is to bring people and cats together in a spirit of community, to allay the modern malaise of existential loneliness. Through cat blogging we should all be able to look inward and confront the essential questions of our own subjective truth and the inevitability of death. You know what I mean.
Sundance's Reasons
1. Uh.....I don't get it. First I get a harness put on me and then I have to take a test? This is bumming me out, man.
(Sundance is now chasing a dust ball)
Hiya Sundance, that harness looks scary! Luckily we don't get those here in Malaysia or else I will run a million miles. I've taken over WCB this weekend so come see me in my best supermodel pose.

Oh that is hilarious! We got a harness for Bustopher after some marathon outdoor adventures and he wasn't happy about it at all, but that smart little thing figured out why he had to wear it and stuck closer to the house after that. Now if he wanders off too much, we just show him the harness to get him back on track.
Love the squirrel shot too! How kyooot!
Here's what the boys have been up to this week.

Sundance,
I understand about your abhorrence for the harness... I've tried it with both my cats, neither of them took to it... but it's a good thing to get used to. It keeps you safe so you won't get lost! As for my cats, I give up on the harness. I think I'm just going to end up getting a (GASP!) dog.

This is too cute. Sundance, your harness is for your own protection, so learn to love it until you're older.
And Upsie, you're eloquent as always. Keep on blogging, baby!

Hey, Sundance, don't you think the harness is worth it so you can be safe outside with Upsie?
We tried a harness on the cat we had before the current three, and she hunkered down and wouldn't move at all in it. Sergei and Sasha have never expressed any interest in going outside (though they love to sit in open windows), and I doubt we could even get a harness on Lyra.
Speaking of windows, here's Sergei posing in one: http://musicandcats.com/2007/04/feline-friday-posing/

Damn, I love your WCBs!

My sister has a harness for her indoor kitties. She doesn't use it anymore because when they have it on, they just lay down flat and howl. It is impossible to get them to do anything with it on! The squirrel is just too cute in the tupperware container getting weighed.

That photo of Upsie licking Sundance's head is really sweet :). Luna likes to do that, too.
I had gotten Luna a harness once, but it seems to have disappeared completely...so don't be surprised if this one disappears, too...

I can really understand Sundance, poor kitty. Maruschka was also very disoriented when we put the harness on her and went outside. She complained very loudly!
Anyway, at least he has a sweet sister who takes care of him when things are not funny...
That squirrel is terribly cute in his Tupperware "bowl", he, he...
If you want to see our "nasty" Maruschka and learn about her horrible behaviour, then here's the link:

As bonus, you can even see a video of Muschki eating like a panicked "monster"!!!

Hehe nice reasons for blogging! It was interesting reading them! Sorry Sundance, that I had to put you through it, but I must say you do look very dashing in that harness! :)
Please could Puddy be added to WCB? She's showing off her soccer skills in a short video by scoring a goal (the chair legs are the goal posts). Too energetic for a Sunday morning, I think! :)

Sundance looks too adorable in both pictures. That's nice that Upsie was giving the calming licks! I just bought a harness to try on China Cat & Willow - don't know how that will turn out!!! Thank you for hosting this weekend. We went from Spring to Winter again so the girls are snuggling for warmth...

Sundance has the perfect name!
Upsie, you did a great job hosting WCB just a couple of months back, and you are doing it again?! What a hard-working cat you are!

Sundance has the sweetest face! I'm glad Upsie decided to comfort him, instead of smashing him with her ferocious paws!
I spoke with my brother last night and he told me how his sister-in-law brings over her tiny little dog and it jumps up and down in front of their cat, Mittens. "And Mittens," he explained, "just sits there punching the dog in the head over and over."
Ha!
Kamibunny is overseeing Easter from his Giant Carrot: http://igot2shoes.blogspot.com/2007/04/wcb-96-happy-easter.html He wishes you and yours and everyone else a Peaceful Easter!

don't tell anyone, sundance, but mom makes me wear a harness if we have to leave in a hurricane -- just in case things get crazy really fast and she needs to get CONTROL. oy, what is it with these humans?
what i can't figure about your mom, that squirrel looks like he needs a harness, if you ask me, that way we [you and me] could control him. oh, well, we can't have everything we want but that doesn't mean we shouldn't stop trying.
i'm bringing a friend, petra, [you can see what she looks like here: http://jellypizza.blogspot.com/2007/04/sunny-bunnies.html], and i bet she will like nibbling on that pretty grass in your mom's garden. upsie, please keep an eye on her, 'cause sometimes she's all over the place with the bouncing.
i bet she'll share some of her goodies that she travels with -- jelly beans & eggs & chocolate. thanks again for having us.
let us know if you want us to hang around after to help eat all the leftov...OOPS, er, i mean...help CLEAN up.
heh heh.
by the way you are all looking really good, and sundance -- you really are a cute boy. i like that upsie is being nice to you.

oh boy! just a quick visit from us by now 'cause mommy is in a hurry but we'll come back tomorrow and read all!
here's our WCB: http://foodblog.paulchens.org/?p=779
*psssst* sundance: we've got such things too and we do not like them at all, but hey if this is it to get us allowed to be outside... it's way better than tohave to stay inside the house :o))

Mr. Mao lasted 5 minutes in the harness I had for him. Sundance's looks pretty spiffy tho, and I love how he is modeling it! As always, Upsies expressions make me laugh! She is a funny little thing.
What is the next step with the squirrels? Do they get released back into the wild?
Thanks for hosting this week! Here is Mr. Mao begging for some Easter dinner. http://mayedecember.blogspot.com/
