When Janelle at Talk Of Tomatoes started the Centerpiece of the Month, I decided to get on board. I'm not proficient at creating centerpieces by any means. At most, I put some flowers in a vase and set them on the table. And that's always been fine with me, because I love flowers. I used to gather flowers and herbs from my garden, put them in vases, and position them around the house. Even when I'm feeling down, seeing flowers always lifts my mood. But, I stopped for the last couple of years, and I miss them. So, Janelle's monthly event is perfect for me. I hope that, as time goes by, my centerpieces will evolve into something more.....artful. And maybe, just maybe, Bob and I will be inspired to eat more meals at the table, rather than the island/breakfast bar in the kitchen.
I have a thing for pitchers, probably because it reminds me of my Grandma Bessie. I don't know if she had pitchers of flowers in her house when I was a child, but I like to imagine that she did. So, if I see one that gives off a "fill me with flowers" vibe, I buy it. I bought this pitcher years ago from a local potter at the Davis Farmers Market. It's one of my favorites. As soon as I put these tulips on the dining room table, I felt happier. But, we still haven't eaten a meal there.
Baby steps.
Go to Janelle's site. And maybe you would like to make your own centerpiece. I'm sure there are many of you who could out centerpiece Martha. Well, maybe not Martha.
Beautiful. Yes, when my Dad visits he almost always bring in flowers at least once.

I feel the Spring is right here! Love their radiant color! When I first came to Amercian in 95 (for visit), I felt very strange everyone of my husband's family we ate in the kitchen (hehee)...

What a wonderful image to see on a cold frigid New England morning! I love coming to your site before starting the day, there's always something very cozy.

That's really lovely! I love to put flowers all over the house too. I like having small pots of a couple of blooms here and there. It lifts my spirits too.

I go out about once a month in the winter months and buy some flowers just to have around and brighten up the house a bit and they always make me smile. Your centerpiece is great!

I love tulips! I just bought my first bundle of them... and put them in a pitcher:). What is it about pitchers? I love that your pitcher inspiration comes from Grandma Bessie.

My dining room is a bit neglected since we tend to eat our meals in the kitchen too. I love flowers in general, but tulips are my favorite.

Very pretty! A house just doesn't feel right without fresh flowers.

Somewhere, and I have no idea where, I read that the four things that give a room life are cut flowers, potted plants, paintings, and books. It's always struck me as very true.
Your vase of tulips is lovely.

So pretty! And I love tulips. These pictures give me hope that the several dozen tulips covered by 12 inches of snow in my backyard will eventually come up in about 4 months' time!

Those beautiful tulips remind me of spring. As I look out the window and watch the snow fall, I feel a bit warmer looking at your beautiful flowers!

Absolutely beautiful. It's simple but so classic and absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing!
I love tulips too, I wonder if I could get away with having them in my house (every flower I ever had in this house makes me sick- allergies!).
